NB Sailsports incorporating Finnports
The Finn has the best pedigree of all single-handed dinghies having been selected to compete in every Olympic Games since 1952. It is sailed in more countries than any other single-hander and the list of Finn helms past and present reads like the 'Who's Who' of dinghy sailing.
Through controlled evolution the Finn is today one of the most refined and rewarding sailing dinghies, suitalbe for a wide range of shapes and sizes. Competitive racing can be had for a sailor between 88-120kgs - making the Finn fleet one of the most diverse groups of sailors competing today.
The boat is a TRUE one design? What does that mean? A true one design is where rules and QUALITY are given the highest importance in the design and realisation of Finn equipment - In short you get what you ask for (within the rules) and its built to last. A finn can have a competitive life of a decade or more!
A Finn sailor can have a competitive life of far more than a decade - adding to fun and diversity of the fleet. There is NO other class where such an open inter-generational community comes together to compete and improve. Check out the IFA website, the dedicated you tube channel and the Finn masters website to sample the fun.
In Australia there has never been a better time to get involved with Finn sailing, fleets are active in NSW, VIC, SA and building in WA. There is an open exchange of ideas, first grade equipment available and real passion for the boat. We have the ISAF worlds this year in Perth and an Australian contingent is going to the Masters Worlds in Italy.
